R UV Ugly?

R UV Ugly? is a campaign being launched by Cancer Research UK SunSmart this winter. It is an innovative and ambitious youth focused campaign that aims to address the rising rates of skin cancer among young people. A key contributing factor is the use of sunbeds, sometimes by people as young as 16 years old.
The R UV Ugly? campaign aims to draw attention to the damage that young people are doing to their skin through sunbed use and position fake tan as a real and viable alternative.
Cancer Research UK has teamed up with sk:n to create a two for none offer on UV skin assessments (worth £25 each) in its 39 clinics across the country.
Everyone knows that healthy, beautiful skin makes us feel great but many people have severe underlying skin damage caused by smoking, alcohol and exposure to UV.
The skin assessment is undertaken by a sk:n expert using a UV skin scanner to evaluate the damage caused. By attending one of these consultations you will see first hand the damage done to your skin and this will hopefully discourage you from using sunbeds in the future.
Did you know?
Using a sunbed for the first time before the age of 35 increases the risk of skin cancer by 75 per cent
Using a sunbed once a month or more can increase the risk of skin cancer by more than 50 per cent
