Too much searching outside…

This weekend was my first Crossfit competition of the season and I was more than a little nervous going into it hoping that all of the strength work I have been focused on for the past eight months was going to pay off. I spent a lot of time the week before the competition asking friends how they got focused before a competition, I guess looking to see what gives them the extra grrrr when it’s needed.
By the end of the weekend I realised that it is fine to ask others what drives them when the going gets tough but ultimately that information is within. You only know how far you can go when you test yourself to your limits, that uncomfortable place that you’d rather not be, but until you familiarise yourself with that place you cannot gauge it in competition.
I’m not going to lie, I like everything including my training to be fairly controlled, I tell myself I will push myself to a certain level (generally teetering on the edge of my comfort zone) and then I back off. Now it’s time for me to push myself over the edge and see what it feels like when I am way out of my comfort zone because it is only there that the real growth happens.
