A visit to the Chelsea Day Spa Boutique…

Winter skin.  Bleuch!  I felt I needed a little winter-skin pick me up and so took myself down to The Chelsea Day Spa Boutique.  Now you may be forgiven for thinking that I was about to enter a zone of women in fur coats, hermes scarves and yapping fur balls about their ankles, since I was in Chelsea darling.  But actually it was a tiny little haven of fabulous.

I instantly fell in love with the small attention to detail, like having cute little health and beauty books on the table to read rather than magazines, you felt like you were in someone’s home rather than a salon.  Beauty salons have this way of making one feel unkept.  First, the quick face-scan you get from the receptionist as she assesses the shape of your brow-lettes and notices that your roots need a touch up, then a quick scan by the hairdressers at your wares.  But not here.  All the ladies were absolutely lovely and made me feel very welcome.

Next I met my facialist, Shugar.  A wonderful Indian lady with fabulous skin and a wealth of knowledge on beauty.  Ahem, she did request that I stop talking to relax, but I had so many questions to ask my new Messiah that I barely came up for air.  It makes such a difference when you can tell somebody LOVES what they do, it just makes your whole experience better.

Anyways, then to my skin.  Shugar did a quick review of my skin and decided I needed their Chamomile & Honey Soothing Facial, that was gonna put a bit of moisture back into my derma.  Using gorgeous Darphin products, she scrubbed, cleansed and hydrated my layers!  And unlike other salons where they nip out of the room while your mask gets to work, Shugar gave my hands a little massage love.  This would have been the perfect opportunity to get more info from my guru except I was all layered up with a fask mask, followed by muslin, followed by another face mask, a cunning plan by Shugar to keep me quiet I feel, but it did mean I totally relaxed which was her intention.

Having thought I had escaped the dissatisfied look of the receptionist, Shugar did feel it necessary to tidy up my brows, I wouldn’t look as good post-facial without a quick thread, and so I was pruned into neatness!  Shugar also confirmed that the way to good skin was to include plenty of water and fresh vegetables, a woman after my own heart.  Lady was smart!

I left clutching at my face, caressing my new soft skin.  I scanned passers by, as I walked down the street who I thought would obviously note my new glow and ask me where I bought my skin.  The rainy evening meant no such thing happened but I know were it a bright summer’s eve I would have been pounced on by ladies with dehydrated skin!

Their facials start at £40 and are for all purse strings, with their fab ‘mini’ range of treatments.  A definite once a month gift to self for the FG sweethearts.  Then after you can swan around Chelsea pretending you live there whilst looking beautiful!
