At last girls, we have an excuse to shop ’til we drop (a few pounds)

We knew it girls, we do not just shop to make ourselves look lovely! We shop to burn some cals, so that we look extra lovely in our new purchases!! A new Debenhams survey noted that walking between shops and lifting heavy shopping bags provides a workout which burns 385 calories a week for the average British woman…I wonder do I need to shop more to get some real calorie burn on?…
Now Debenhams only tested 10 shoppers (five male and five female), but we’re going with this as a large scale study (it’s more convincing…) Anyways, so they were strapped with calorie-counting pedometers on a trip to the shops. It found that women cover an average of nearly three miles during the 2.5 hours they spend browsing the shops every week. (I could spend 2.5 hours in Selfridges alone…who were these shopping phobes??)
Anyway before you go calling up your credit card company to see just how much is left on your card, you can’t go counting this as a workout sweethearts. Sweating whilst shopping is really unattractive, and it’s what you’d be doing on these little sprees if you were able to count it as a training session (what a fab excuse though to disguise shopping trips …”I’m off for a workout darling…”) HOWEVER my dears, you can count it towards your non-exercise-physical-activity NEPA. Making sure you get lots of NEPA into your week on top of your proper workouts means you are sure to be a svelte Goddess.
Now go forth and shop ’til you drop! Build up those NEPA points!
