Researchers have discovered a genetic link between physical pain and social rejection…”but why doesn’t he love me any more?????” sob, sob, whilst keeping one eye on phone in the hope of a call!!

Psychologists at the University of California in L.A. have discovered that the body deals with emotional stress in the same way that it reacts to physical pain. The part of our brain that gives physical pain signals, can also become activated as a result of social rejection. Prof Naomi Eisenberger, the study co-author, says “Because social connection is so important, feeling literally hurt by not having social connections may be an adaptive way to make sure we keep them.” Not to be read as call him begging if you have been dumped Fit Girls, we’re not even gonna go there.
