Threading, where you been all my life?

Yes, the eyebrow!! It can change a girls face, and even make one feel comfortable stepping out with no make-up on. Neat eyebrows are a must, and I’ve recently made the transition from waxing to threading.

Now I’ve been a wax girl for years. That is of course discounting all of those years when I thought that me eyebrows were perfectly lovely as they were, curly bits at the end and all, and never saw fit to shape them. And then of course there was the pluck them into non-existence phase, y’know when you first discover tweezers and get tweeze-happy!! I think I made the decision to let a pro take over in my mid-twenties, shameful I know!!

Anyway, for the last six or seven years I have heard mutterings about threading, an Indian technique using cotton doubled up to whip clean lines in thine brows! Have you ever seen a Bollywood actress with bad brows? We thought not!! So I decided to go for my first threading experience just last month. My lady was pretty fierce and didn’t hesitate to tell me that my eyebrows were all wrong! I felt like shrieking “we’ve just met, take it easy,” but I appreciated her brutal honesty. Now I must admit, I wasn’t sure post-thread, but a month on, with another two weeks to go to grow back the hairs of my long-lost-arch, I can see where the sister was coming from. My eyebrows, with more hair on them than ever before, are still looking pretty good! Rather like a good hair cut, a good thread sees your eyebrows through!

Of course there was the minor detail of telling my previous lady that I had abandoned her eyebrow waxing methods for the much talked about threading. As I slunk onto the couch to have a bikini wax mid-confession, I prayed she would take it easy on me…y’know, she could have gotten a little aggressive with the wax strips!! Luckily she was a gem about it – phew!

So ladies, I can highly recommend threading. It takes a while for the perfect brow to take shape, and to reverse years of arch-heightening, but it is certainly worth it!
