The Super Power of Blueberries

Not that we haven’t already encouraged you to add a little blueberry or two to your day, but there is now even more reason to nibble on these little power balls. New research has shown that eating 200g of blueberries per day is enough to boost your concentration by 20% over the course of the day. Wow-wee that’s some bad-ass power you got right there.
Dr Jeremy Spencer, a molecular nutritionist at the University of Reading, believes its affect on the mind is to do with its ability to increase the blood flow to your brain. And let’s face it, we can all do with a little extra flow to the brain, my house key losing abilities are quite something these days! The effect is, improved cognitive performance in the short term (yes instant key-find-age!!), and a healthier brain in the long term. Super!!
He believes that flavonoid-rich foods, which including chocolate (steady!), spinach (another Fit Girl power food) and some fruit juices, can re-structure the brain and ward off memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s.
