The Fit Girl Flight Survival Guide

If you’re anything like me, you and planes don’t get on. Cooped up in a tiny space for God knows how long. The guy in front of you whips his chair all the way back as soon as the plane is cruising. You’re in the middle of two seats with a little old lady to the right who you really don’t want to have to wake up each time you need to get up and walk around. The guy to your left is a definite snorer – dammit I forgot those ear plugs. And let’s not forget plane food, with E numbers seeping out of the packaging. Wow, it’s a hell of a ride, how is a girl supposed to stay calm and healthy??
Try our flight survival guide to get you through:
1. Hydrate – drink that water, planes massively dehydrate you, so you need to replenish. Excited as you may be about your holiday, now is not the time for boozing it!
2. Protect – there are a lot of little germs floating around planes ready to unleash themselves on you as soon as you land, just in time to ruin your holiday. We like Vicks First Defence Nasal Spray £6.84 from all good chemists. We also highly recommend a good hand sanitiser, we like the Carex Hand Gel range £1.38 from all good chemists, they come in perfectly sized 50ml bottles to throw into your handbag.
3. Move – if you are travelling long haul, it’s a good idea to get up and move around to keep the blood flowing. Even when sat down, try flexing and pointing your toes, as well as writing the alphabet with your feet to keep flow to your lower limbs. Most long-haul flight carriers supply you with plane socks to help with circulation, really not cute, but they do the job!
4. Stay calm – if you get a little nervous about flying, try some Bach’s Rescue Remedy £5.08 from all good chemists to keep you calm. Drop a little on your tongue and chill.
