Are muffin tops a measure of your health?

Your body shape is an indicator of potential risks to your health. Research has shown that apple shapes, carrying more weight around their waist, are more at risk than pear shapes, carrying more weight around their hips. Carrying excess weight around your waist has been linked to increased risk of heart disease and diabetes.
The waist-hip ratio is a good way of measuring risks to your health. It can be calculated as follows:
waist measurement/hip measurement = waist-hip ratio
Women should have a waist-hip ration of less than 0.8
